Freeman Transport

Freeman Transport is a Montana-based company hand-building bikes in the USA. Using Columbus steel tubing and S-and-S couplings the bikes can be easily disassembled and packed into their signature waxed canvas and leather carrying case – a collaboration with NY-based Billykirk. The case’s 26 X 26 inch dimensions ensure that the bike can be checked onto airplanes with no oversized baggage fee. This unique feature on all Freeman bikes allows for easy assembly/disassembly - with only one simple tool to put them back together - making it easy to ride to and from the airport.

A Round of Applause

For years the best thing people had to say about Jersey City is that it is close to Manhattan.  This weekend the organizers of the All Points West Festival brought to the 6th borough a show that was second to none.  Thanks also to the police, NJ Transit, and all the intrepid music fans who ventured out someplace new to have an experience unique to this place and this moment.

Every community has a life of its own, and as with any life there are watershed moments.  This past weekend certainly qualifies.  Jersey City was alive with the energy of thousands of new visitors, great live music, shopping and nightlife.  For the weekend at least, Jersey City ceased being an accessory to New York and became something else entirely.  Something wonderful.

ANTENNA Gives Clear Picture of What's New

Some time ago Madison Avenue decided we would only buy things that celebrities were selling.  ANTENNA Magazine challenges that notion by putting the spotlight back on the products and not the pitchmen.  In doing so, they reveal the strange beauty of everyday objects, from denim to turkey decoys to anti-depressants (all in one issue).  They tend to confine interviews to the people who make things: artists and designers you may not know from the tabloids, but who's creations both define and respond to American culture in a very real and direct way.  The things we buy and use tell the story of who we are as well as Mamet or Miller, and ANTENNA provides images as powerful as prose.

The Fall 2008 issue of ANTENNA is available now at Life.  For more, visit their website
